The Head of the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State, Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, has called on health workers to recommit themselves to service, integrity and professionalism, stressing that the values of sacrifice and compassion remain central to effective healthcare delivery.

Dr. Chukwu made the call at the Carol of Nine Lessons and End-of-Year Christmas celebration of the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Umuahia, held today, Monday, 22nd December 2025, where he was the Special Guest of Honour.
He said the Christmas season offers an opportunity for reflection, urging health professionals to draw inspiration from its core message of selflessness and love for humanity.

“Christmas is a reminder that true service is rooted in sacrifice, compassion and dedication to the well-being of others,” he said, encouraging staff to uphold accountability, excellence hand ethical conduct in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Earlier in his address, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu, reviewed the hospital’s performance over the past year, noting significant progress in service delivery, staff collaboration and patient care.
The CMD outlined strategic plans for the coming year aimed at consolidating these gains and expanding specialist and diagnostic services, while expressing gratitude to Governor Alex Otti and the Abia State Government for their sustained support.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the Honourable Commissioner for Health, the Managing Director of the Abia State Advertisement Agency and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs.
The celebration featured carol renditions, goodwill messages and the presentation of awards to outstanding staff members across various departments, recognising their dedication and exceptional service throughout the year.
