Otti’s Governance Model Fueling Grassroots Transformation — Chukwu

The Head, Bureau of Due Process and Public Procurement in Abia State, Dr. Oluebube O. Chukwu, has applauded Gov Alex Chioma Otti, OFR for building a governance framework rooted in transparency, accountability and strict financial discipline, describing it as a catalyst for rapid grassroots development across the state.




Speaking during the Labour Party State Working Committee’s project inspection tour in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State yesterday, Dr. Chukwu said the Governor’s reforms have entrenched due-process culture in public service, giving local governments the capacity to execute impactful projects that directly improve livelihoods. He noted that visible progress in Umunneochi, especially in infrastructure, security and social programmes, reflects the success of structured governance and responsible resource management.



Abia Labour Party (LP) Chairman, Sir Emma Nwaeze Otti, also commended the Governor for restoring public trust through transparent leadership and people-first policies. He urged residents to sustain their support for the administration, stressing that Umunneochi’s ongoing development is proof of purposeful leadership. He later inaugurated the interim LP Executives for the LGA and encouraged grassroots mobilisation to strengthen ongoing reforms.

The Mayor of Umunneochi LGA, Hon. Sunny Afuruobi, outlined key achievements in his first year, to include: 140 solar street lights, dredging and erosion-control works, the Achara Bridge project, a security complex at Ndiawa military base, youth empowerment initiatives and installation of solar-powered inverters at the council secretariat. He attributed the progress to prudent resource management and the backing of Governor Otti, pledging to sustain development in security, infrastructure and social welfare.

The member representing Umunneochi State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthias Ume, joined party and community leaders at the event.
