Hon. Oluebube Chukwu, on February 15, 2025, attended the private burial ceremony of the late Sir Joseph Okafor, father-in-law of H.E. Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, in Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State. The solemn event gathered close family members, friends, and political associates to pay their final respects.
Chukwu accompanied Prof. Ken Kalu, Secretary to the Abia State Government, who represented the Governor of Abia State, H.E. Dr. Alex Otti, OFR. Their presence showed the strong ties between political leaders across the Southeast region and their shared commitment to supporting one another in moments of grief.
Distinguished Sen. Uche Ekwunife was also among the dignitaries in attendance. The former lawmaker, known for her political influence in Anambra, joined other guests in honoring the life and legacy of the late Sir Okafor.
The ceremony was marked by tributes highlighting Sir Okafor’s contributions to his family and community. Speakers eulogized him as a man of integrity, kindness, and wisdom, whose impact would be remembered for generations.
Hon. Chukwu, reflecting on the occasion, extended his condolences to the Kalu family, urging them to take solace in the exemplary life Sir Okafor lived. The event concluded with prayers and final rites in accordance with traditional customs.
