Dr. Oluebube Chukwu Hails Governor Otti For Commissioning 14 Roads, Health Centres Across Abia

Dr. Oluebube Chukwu has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for what he described as “a historic moment in Abia’s transformation journey,” following the commissioning of 14 roads and five primary health centres across the state in a single day. Chukwu praised the governor’s leadership for translating promises into tangible development, especially in critical areas like infrastructure and healthcare.

On Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, Governor Otti undertook a major commissioning tour across Aba and other parts of the state, declaring open 14 rehabilitated and reconstructed roads. These include: Umuode Road (1.5km), Bakassi Road (0.6km), Isu Ihiteukwa Street (0.3km), Asa Triangle Road (0.5km), Enyimba Junction–Ariaria Gate Road (0.3km), Market Road (0.744km), Tenant Road (0.740km), Cameroun Road (0.711km), Ehi Road (0.5km), Clifford Road (0.836km), School Road (0.729km), Afikpo Road (0.480km), Isi Eketa–Obikabia Road (8.3km), and IBB Road (1.5km).

Dr. Chukwu, in a statement, said the governor's focus on upgrading Aba’s decaying infrastructure is not only timely but visionary. “These projects are not just roads; they are economic corridors that reconnect people, revive local commerce, and restore confidence in governance,” he said. He also hailed the balance shown in extending healthcare access through the rehabilitation and commissioning of health facilities across different zones.

The newly commissioned primary health centres are located in Owerrinta (Isiala Ngwa South), Imerem (Isiala Ngwa South), Amigbo (Umuahia South), and Ekeoba-Oriendu (Umuahia North). The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure that no community is left behind in the state’s development drive, promising to address long-standing issues like the water crisis at St. Joseph’s College in Aba.

Political figures at the event, including the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, and the Mayor of Aba South, described the commissioning as a breakthrough that would define Otti’s legacy. “He doesn’t need to campaign in Aba,” Emeruwa said, referencing the sweeping support the governor is enjoying due to his performance.

Architect Uche Ukeje of the Greater Aba Development Authority noted that most of the roads had been rendered useless before the intervention. “Today, traffic has eased, commercial activity is growing, and Aba is breathing again,” he said, crediting Otti’s administration for prioritising strategic urban rehabilitation.

The 14 roads and five health centres represent the first batch of 55 projects expected to be delivered in phases. Governor Otti’s bold push signals more than just infrastructural development it marks a shift in governance style, one rooted in accountability, delivery, and sustainable impact.
